Precious natural resources that support people’s health and industries
Millions of years ago, when the Kanto Plain was still covered with seawater, layers with many organic sediments on the ocean floor were trapped underground due to the movement of the Earth’s crust, creating the ancient seawater known as “brine.” Ise Chemicals produces iodine and natural gas from brine found 900 to 2,000 meters below the Earth’s surface.
The first thing that comes to mind when you hear “iodine” is that it is a mouthwash, but it is actually an essential element not only for the human body but also for the survival of animals, and is a substance that is essential for the treatment of “iodine deficiency” and for maintaining good health.
Iodine is also used in X-ray contrast media, etc. in the medical field, in agricultural chemicals, in LCD polarizing film, and as a stabilizer in the materials used for automobile seat belts, airbags, etc.
Iodine is a focus of much attention in its prominent role as a material in many cutting-edge industries.

Natural gas is dissolved in brine, which was produced by bacterial decomposition of organic materials in geological layers accumulated over millions of years.
Natural gas is separated from brine, which is pumped to the surface, in a separator, and the natural gas is supplied to gas companies for town and industrial uses.
Natural gas generates less carbon dioxide emissions, a major cause of global warming, than other fossil fuels, such as petroleum and coal. Natural gas is gaining a great deal of attention as an environmentally friendly energy source.
